Active Radiator 260022 Aluminum Radiator w/Skid Plate

Overheating? This is THE solution!

The Warn PowerPlant winch we added has been one of the greatest enhancements we could ever have performed on the Project Jeep. But between that and the transmission cooler we installed, we started having some minor overheating issues on uphill climbs or on dark black pavement at sustained sppeds of 75 MPH (essentially when driving to Southern Utah on the hottest days).

We installed the hood louver vents, and they helped. But they didn't help all the way.

There was only ONE solution - and it turned out to work VERY well.

We obtained an Active Radiator #260022 Aluminum Radiator with welded-on skidplate. This is a heavy duty unit, and required that we go back to the factory fan - no more electric fan. That was a minor issue in comparison with how this radiator performs.

The radiator arrived nicely packed in a wooden crate. We opened it up and got right to work.

We noticed that all of the aluminum welds were VERY nicely done, and everything is fitted and finished to a very high quality standard. Active Radiator doesn't mess around - they do it the right way the first time...

Removal of the existing radiator and the Flex-a-Lite electrical fan we had installed was simple. We installed the fan to make water crossings a little safer - but with the overheating, we needed to get more cooling capability. An aluminum radiator was absolutely required, but being slightly thicker - we had to go back to the factory fan. That was no problem in the long run.

The radiator basically drops right in, and then the factor fan shroud and fan are re-installed.

One thing to note is that some folks worry about aluminum radiators and trail obstacles. Active Radiator can ship this with a skid plate welded on, and with that you are going to be quite safe. As you can see in the photos above, it provides plenty of coverage and is thick enough to be highly effective.

We tested this radiator over two years, intentionally going into very hot places that stressed the former cooling system. This system NEVER went over 210 degrees - even on dark black pavement at 75 MPH on 105-degree days. It solved ALL of our issues and the Jeep has been very happy since we installed it.

If you have ANY overheating issues or are otherwise looking for an enhanced cooling system for your Jeep - Active Radiator is the one you need to call.
